New Seminar Announced!
Investigating Employee Accidents
a joint Woods Rogers PLC - HCR Seminar
Places of employment are potentially dangerous
work environments, and while proper training, engineering controls
and administrative precautions can help to effectively manage
risk, employee accidents can and do happen. Accidents are inevitable
in todays pressurized workplace - even with
the best loss control program employees still get in a hurry or
get distracted. Employee accidents, while unfortunate, present
an opportunity to improve the performance of a facilitys
safety program. Properly conducted accident investigations provide
solutions to many workplace hazards.

FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Welcome to Healthcare Compliance
Resources! It is my pleasure to inform you that Healthcare Compliance
Resources, now an affiliate of Woods Rogers Consulting, PLLC,
is now entering into the fifteenth year of serving the regulatory
compliance needs of employers in the southeast.
Hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and long-term
care facilities have seen major changes in the focus of their
accrediting agencies, not to mention increased enforcement activities
from CMS, HHS, and the state Department of Health. Medical and
dental offices, cancer treatment centers, hospices, and funeral
homes are all exposed to increased scrutiny from OSHA and the
EPA. There are currently eight bills in the 111th Congress that
may change the "weight" of OSHA and the way you do business.
One thing for sure, we are still adjusting and trying to comply
with the many changes to the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
caused by the HITECH Act, a section of the February 17, 2009 American
Reinvestment and Recovery Act (the "Stimulus Bill").
Our firm specializes in assisting those responsible
for OSHA, CMS, HHS, and JCAHO/AAAHC compliance. We offer detailed
information to aid healthcare facilities, be it a hospital or
a long-term care facility, a medical office or a dental practice,
a public health department or a mortuary, in complying with the
myriad of government regulations. Unless you meet the requirements
of the various regulatory compliance programs, disaster looms
on the horizon. All it takes is one employee who is careless in
the handling of medical waste or a patient's personal medical
information and the resultant fines and penalties can devastate
your business. Even without the stiff financial penalties a misplaced
syringe or an overheard medical condition may have such devastating
adverse public relations that your practice may take years to
recover. We can help.
In the past, HCR provided consulting services
which included on-site training, seminars, and written regulatory
programs mandated by OSHA and/or HIPAA. Since then we have broadened
our scope of services to include new areas of awareness such as
management training programs and seminars to improve employee
accident investigations. The information we provide and the opinions
we offer change frequently so you will want to keep in touch.
After having spent over 35 years in healthcare administration,
mostly dealing with OSHA, DEQ/EPA and the JCAHO, I have become
very accustomed to change. Our motto has always been "beyond
compliance" and our goal is to provide timely, courteous,
and professional consultative services to medical and ancillary
healthcare employers and their employees so that they may recognize
and control workplace hazards and prevent injuries, illnesses,
fatalities, and governmental citations.
Please take a few minutes to review our web page
which describes our many services and sign up for one of many
training seminars hosted by a wide variety of professional affiliations
and societies across the United States. It would be my pleasure
to provide you with quality consulting services and assist you
in developing and implementing strategic solutions.
Cordially,
Stephen A. Burt
